Privacy Policy

This privacy policy has been adapted from the privacy policy kindly licensed under Creative Commons by Automattic, the manufacturing developer behind WordPress.com.

We, Tamu by Jane, own and operate this website, hereafter referred to as “this website”. It is our policy and practice to respect your privacy regarding any information that may be collected while operating this website or any related sites.

Visitors to this website

Like most websites, this website collects information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available. This information is of a non-personally-identifying type and includes data such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. The purpose in collecting this information is to better understand how visitors use this website. From time to time, we may release non-personally-identifying information in an aggregate form, for example, by publishing a report on volume and usage trends of the website.

Joining the waitlist

When you join the waitlist, we ask for your first name, last name (optional), email address, city (optional) and what you would most want Jane to cover (optional). We collect this information only so that we can tell you about the date, location and details of the class before anyone else, and so that Jane can plan the day around the people who will be in the room.

We also record where you found this website (for example Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok or Facebook) when you join, so that we can understand which channels are working. This is taken from the link you clicked or the website you came from. It is held only for the duration of your visit, using your browser’s temporary session storage, and is saved with your signup only if you join the list.

Joining the list is free and does not commit you to anything. If you would like to be removed from the list, or would like to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, contact us and we will do so. Every visitor has the right to refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the proviso that it will prevent us from adding you to the waitlist.

Gathering of personally-identifying information

There are visitors to this website who choose to interact and communicate with us in ways that require us to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that we gather depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we may ask visitors who contact us for their name, email address, and other identifying information. In each case, we collect such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with us. We do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Where your information is stored

Waitlist details are stored securely with a database provider, in a data centre in the European Union, and are only accessible to us. We may later add the list to an email service so that we can send you updates about the class. If we do, we will only use it for the purpose described above, and every email will include a way to unsubscribe.

Aggregated statistics

We may collect data about visitor behaviour on this website and we may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, we do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of certain personally-identifying information

We disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of our employees, contractors and affiliated organisations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf or to provide services available at this website and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others.

We will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to our employees, contractors and affiliated organisations, as described above, we disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of ourselves, third parties or the public at large. We take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorised access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Cookies

A cookie is a thread of information a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website every time that visitor returns. This website does not currently use cookies to track you or to show you advertising. If that changes, we will update this policy. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies. The drawback is that certain features and functionality of the website may not perform properly.

Privacy policy changes

Changes to this policy are unlikely and, if they do happen, they are likely to be minor. We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at our sole discretion. We invite visitors to check this page regularly for any changes to the Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
